These are visions pulled from imagination. Although, the imaginary may not be unreal as we think.
With this painting I explored the subject of reincarnation, the rebirth of a soul into a physical body. The light colored hues billowing on the painting's outer edges represent the spiritual plane of existence. In the center, a portal dilates, opening to reveal an alternative plane of existence: planet earth. On the portal's edge, a human figure emerges from the colors. It steps into the darkness of space and heads toward the blue and green sphere of earth, ready for another turn at the game of life.
Flowers of Life
"Flowers of Life" is covered by an ancient symbol known for thousands of years as the Flower of Life. This symbol consists of 64 overlapping circles. It is considered to be a sacred geometric symbol seen in ancient cultures ranging from the ancient Egyptians to the Mayans. This geometry is said to hold the building blocks of nature, including the Phi ratio and the Fibonacci spiral. The large blossomed flowers stand in for phenomena already realized and manifest. On the other hand, the many tiny buds represent matter still in the form of potential and possibility. It required masterful work with a compass as well as meticulous strategizing to get the background pattern exactly right.
